SHREVEPORT, La. - The 2017 Powerboat Nationals has been cancelled this weekend due to the predicted weather from Tropical Storm Harvey.

On Tuesday the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, the Red River Waterway Commission, Powerboat
Nationals LLC, and the American Power Boat Association announced the cancellation due to weather and related variables that impact this event.

Executive Director of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission Kelly Wells said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been impacted by the hurricane and rains this week in Texas.”

Wells added, “There were so many variables for this event impacted already by the weather that is occurring in Texas, coupled with the predicted weather for the Shreveport-Bossier area, we felt it was best to cancel the Powerboat Nationals for this year and begin looking towards 2018.”
The same event is scheduled on the Red River in Shreveport-Bossier for September 1-2,
